Property in Wilson
Ask any local where they’d like to live and they’ll tell you “place Wilson”. The leafy square – and its surrounding streets – embodies a chic village in the centre of Nice. There are parks, pharmacies and patisseries. Plus cafés, boutiques and libraries. All just two minutes from both the Coulée Verte park and avenue Jean Médecin.
Wilson will benefit more than almost anywhere else from the opening of Tramway 2. No exaggeration, it’s one of the prime real estate investment areas in Nice. A brand-new piazza and public park are already being created in square Durandy, a block north of place Wilson. An underground tram station will sit underneath. From 2018 direct airport tram services will take just 20 minutes. Until then the no.98 Airport Bus speeds to Terminals 1 and 2 from two blocks south on avenue Félix Faure.
Alas, the zone’s two premier piazzas – square Durandy and place Wilson – have long been considered chic. Durandy boasts Michelin-starred restaurant Flaveur and boutique wine bar La Mise au Verre. Wilson hosts gourmet favourite Les Epicuriens and La Part des Anges. Apartment prices have never been cheap. Rather, this is a solid real estate investment area where professionals live, Niçois shop and tourists flock.
Each of Wilson’s two-dozen cross streets has its unique charm. The priciest is boulevard Dubouchage (the easterly extension of boulevard Victor Hugo) that hems in the neighbourhood to the north. Notable avenues include high-end antiques street rue Delille, dining road rue Alberti, and rue Guberatis with its branches of Roche Bobois and HSBC Premier.
