Make no mistake. Next summer’s EURO2016 tournament is the largest event on the entire continent. The football championship takes place from June 10th until July 10th in nine French cities, including Nice.
To copy with demand Air France have already planned for extra planes. Rail operator SNCF have laid on 700 extra trains. Nice tourism officials claim an extra 300,000 guests will visit the city during the 30-day tournament.
But there’s a big glaring question: Where are all these visitors going to sleep?
The tournament rides on the back of the Cannes Film Festival and Monaco Grand Prix so it promises to be a bumper year for accommodation bookings.
For pure profit the obvious choice is to rent your apartment with Pebbles and look forward to a payday.

Alas, it would be a shame to miss the action. A compromise would be to rent during the four early games at the brand new Allianz Riviera stadium on 12, 17, 22 and 27 of June. Then visit Nice for the final week when two giant FanZones (one on place Massena, one on the Promenade des Anglais) screen the Quarters, Semis and Finals live in the warm night air. The atmosphere should be awesome.
Apartment owners shouldn’t forget about the six games hosted in Marseille’s Stade Vélodrome. These include a crunch Semi-Final on July 7th. Pebbles expect thousands more guests to make Nice their EURO2016 base, a short TGV ride away from action along the coast.
As the final whistle goes in Paris on July 10th, the summer holiday season should begin in earnest. No wonder local hoteliers are already laughing their way to the bank.
